Last night, Matthew and I attended the L’Amour du Vin fundraiser to benefit the Arthritis Foundation of Northeast Ohio. Held at the lovely Avon Oaks Country Club, this event combined food, wine, music, and a fabulous silent auction into a fun night to benefit those in our community suffering with arthritis.
Food and wine are always better with good friends, so Matthew and I were excited to spend the evening with Amanda and Scott and Kimberly and Chris. Alicia and Hans were catch-as-catch-can, as Alicia organized the event and Hans was volunteering.
We started by checking out the fancy cocktails, food, and jazz in the Key Bank VIP room. Matthew had Woodford Reserve bourbon on the rocks, while I sipped a grapefruit and gin cocktail from Watershed Distillery. We also enjoyed tasty nibbles from AMP 150. Chef Jeff Jarrett dished up pork belly with Ohio corn, as well as a perfect fall squash soup with five-spice pumpkin seeds.
Nothing says VIP like AMP 150!
From there, we tackled the main room packed with wine and food galore. The wine tables were organized by region: Germany, Spain, Chile, Australia, and California. Some of our savory food favorites were the walleye cakes and crab salad in cucumber from Tom’s Country Place, the smoked gouda, chicken, and asparagus mac ‘n cheese from Wood and Wine, and the mushroom risotto from Gatherings Kitchen.
The sweets did not disappoint either! The chili chocolate nibs from Catherine’s Chocolates paired perfectly with my Chilean red wine. And Kiedrowski’s Simply Delicious Bakery had something for everyone, from their famous Snoogle to gigantic cupcakes.
Stuffed and happy, we had a final cheers with our wine to a wonderful evening for a great cause!
L’Amour du Vin is definitely on our calendar for next year and it should be on yours too! If you’d like to help out the Arthritis Foundation of Northeast Ohio even sooner, though, check out the 2012 Jingle Bell Run/Walk. This event takes place on Saturday, December 8 at Legacy Village. Run or walk a 5K course, then stick around to do some holiday shopping. Festive attire encouraged!
***Disclosure: I was asked by the Arthritis Foundation of Northeast Ohio to help promote L’Amour du Vin. In exchange, I received 2 VIP tickets to the event. As always, all opinions are 100% my own.***
